Cube Steak with Red Wine Reduction Sauce
1st Place winner: Grass Fed and Healthy Cube Steak Recipe Contest.
Name: Cube Steak with Red Wine Reduction Sauce
Description: The first place winner of our Cube Steak Recipe Contest, Sarah's Cube Steak with Red Wine Reduction Sauce captivated our taste buds.
Ingredients:
  • Four 6 - 8 Ounce Cube Steaks
  • 1 Cup flour
  • 2 Eggs, whisked a bit with a splash of water
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1 - 2 Tbs. Vegetable oil
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 Cloves garlic
  • 1 Pound sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 Cup Red Wine
  • 1 Tbs. Butter
Directions: Heat oil in skillet. While oil is heating, salt and pepper both sides of the steaks. Put flour in one pie plate. Whisk eggs and water in second pie plate. Dip steaks in flour, then in egg, then back into flour. Slide steaks into sizzling skillet. Fry three to four minutes per side until crispy brown.

Remove steaks from pan and place on a platter. Add onions and let them sweat a bit. (Add more oil if needed to keep them from burning.) Then add garlic and mushrooms. Cook only a few minutes before removing with a slotted spoon on top of steaks.

Add wine to hot pan and swish around. Reduce to 1/4 Cup. Whisk in butter until melted. Spoon over steaks and serve.
