- 1 Pound fresh mushrooms whole or sliced
- 1 Cup sliced almonds
- Sea Salt and pepper to taste
|
| Directions: |
Cook wild rice:
- 2 parts water to 1 part rice
- Add 1 Tsp salt
- Bring to hard boil
- Cover and reduce heat to low
- Cook approximately 40 minutes or until rice is done (depends on rice and if it is wood parched see instructions on package)
Putting it all together
- In large Dutch oven Sauté onions, garlic, celery, and mushrooms in 1/4 Cup butter
- When onions, garlic, and celery are tender add ground round and sauté until browned
- In separate skillet sauté sliced almonds in 1/4 Cup butter until almond slices are burnt
- Add wild rice and burnt almonds to meat mixture
- Add salt and pepper to taste
- Cover and cook on low to medium heat for another 15 minutes or more
You can add a little water if necessary to keep from drying out
If almonds dry out before becoming fully cooked you can add more butter to the skillet, and the same goes for sautéing the onions, garlic, celery, and mushrooms. |
