 Winter in Crested Butte
| |
Mike's ski house chili will warm you up in no time
After a hard day of winter play Whether you like to ski, ice skate, sled, or just make snow-men in the yard with the kids, there's nothing like a bowl of piping hot chili to warm you up on a cold and snowy winter's day. Mike's special ski house chili is quick, easy, and oh so satisfying after a hard day of skiing knee deep powder. He has it made by the time I'm out of the shower
When we come in from skiing, we take off our wet ski clothes, and by the time I'm out of the shower and dressed he can have the pot of chili made and simmering on the stove. Then I stir the chili and make a salad or steam some vegetables while he showers. It's that quick and easy.
Even if you live in a warm climate
If you live in a warm climate, without snow, you have our sympathy, but I expect you probably sympathize with those of us who deal with sub zero temperatures and our cars not starting. But we love winter and winter sports. The cold temperatures are even good for the cattle to a certain degree. (We sure don't have to deal with the bugs and parasites that producers in the southern U.S. do)!
This is NOT Texas Chili
Now, if you're from Texas, you will probably take issue with our chili recipe because it does contain beans. (Texans take their chili very seriously and insist that real chili does not include beans). Oh well! We're not Texans and, like most of the rest of the U.S., we like our chili with beans included. Check out our special on Ground Round
For the winter months we are having a special on Grass Fed Beef Ground Round so you can make lean and delicious, hearty and wholesome, grass fed beef chili thorughout the winter. Mike's ski house chili recipe is posted below: Enjoy!
