Do you or a loved one have cancer?

If so, our hearts go out to you

You've probably arrived at this page because you are eagerly seeking solutions to help you heal and you've heard about grass fed beef in your seeking. You may have even arrived at this page from my article in Squidoo about using beef stock to nourish chemotherapy patients.

We wish you well in your seeking! Whatever actions and or treatments you choose, it is best to be able to make well informed choices about the infinite number of options available to you. The broader your knowledge the more options you will have available and be able to feel good about your choices.

The mounting pile of evidence keeps growing
Abundant research indicates that grass fed beef, high in Omega 3, Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), Beta Caroten, Vitamin A, Vitamin E and other important antioxidants, can help in the prevention, management, and healing of debilitating diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, overweight, and others.

I saw for myself
I know for a fact that grass fed beef promotes good health. Beef is the main staple of our diet and always has been. It's what we have in plentiful supply. When we switched from grain finishing beef for our own consumption to grass finishing (and never looked back) I ended up losing 50 pounds without even trying. I lost the weight slowly, over time, but that is still a very dramatic improvement in overall health from just one simple change.

Protein sources matter
For everyone, whether you have cancer or not, the most important aspect of dietary health is the source and quality of the protein, and whether or not it has been pastured, farmed, fed in confinement, or wild caught.

To me that is my number #1 food priority: To know the source of all the animal protein I eat. We raise our own beef, we buy pork from a chemical free and hormone free producer who is a friend of a friend. Our eggs, as well as our chickens, turkeys, and pheasants are raised by our friends Cathy and Ian, and Cathy sits on the board of the land trust with me. Neighbors John and Linda provide the lamb and eggs as well. McNeil Ranch and our selected duck hunting friends provide the ducks. Other hunting friends provide rabbits.

Unfortunately, I don't have such great sources of dairy, but I do buy milk from an Amish creamery in Iowa.

Avoid added hormones!
The USDA and FDA have said that the level of hormones in U.S. commercial meat and dairy is safe, and doesn't have an effect on the endocrine system of the human consuming the meat or dairy.

All I can say to that is; we have often received assurances from federal agencies that were charged with protecting our health and safety. And not only have they been wrong, they are consistently wrong in favor the of the lobby and industry they are supposed to be regulating. The European Union won't accept U.S. meat that's been raised with growth hormones. I'm with the EU!

Our own hormones deeply affect the function of every physical and emotional system, process, organ, tissue, and cell in our bodies. We have all seen how hormones that are out of balance can wreak havoc in peoples' lives. That said, I'm not willing to risk trusting the USDA and FDA when they say that the hormones in commercial meat don't affect our own hormones, tissues, organs, systems, and cells.

Personally I'm appalled at the wantonly cavalier manner in which our medcal culture plays with hormone balance in human subjects through birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy, but that is an article for another day.

What will help you heal?
You have to search to find what's right for you, and we wish you good luck in that search. Whether you choose chemo or a drink of daily asparagus purée (don't laugh!), I am convinced that if you really believe it will help you to heal, then it will help you to heal.

Of course, I am in no way prescribing or advising you regarding your health, cancer, or treatment of it. I am not licensed or credentialed to do so. You must make your health decisions in consultation with your own chosen health care providers.

However, as a former certified massage therapist and Polarity Therapist I have had abundant exposure to the world of alternative health and healing. In that world I have witnessed, experienced, and heard of many miracles.

There are as many anecdotal stories of cures as there are people with cancer, and while one thing seems to work for one person, the same thing has no affect on another. But the fact is that there are numerous anecdotal stories out there of people managing and healing their illnesses and going on to live lives of robust vitality. It's worth hearing the stories and trying the things that speak to you.

As many alternatives as there are people with cancer
Have an open mind as you seek treatment and cures, and trust your intuition. If something really sparks your interest, then follow that spark. You have a vast array of alternative and traditional treatments to choose from, and you can usually do a number of them complimentarily.

I of course make no claims about any of the treatments, therapies, or diets that are listed, other than Grass Fed Beef. You can find the claims and websites in your research. And remember that health and disease both originate in the psyche.

This is a small sampling of the myriad of healing modalities and therapies that have helped people recover from countless maladies, including cancer. Many of the therapies and healing modalities listed are often performed in conjunction with one another, holistically, rather than as isolated treatments.

Obviously you can't engage in every treatment listed, but check into the ones that pique your curiosity. Find your own path to healing that will be the right one for you.

While you Explore some of the items listed above, most importantly I would suggest beginning a wholesome diet today. That means, high quality proteins, from pastured animals, free of added hormones or antibiotics, along with fresh fruits and vegetable raised without petrochemical herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizer.

Whether or not you choose conventional treatments such as chemo, radiation, surgery, or any combination thereof, you can help support and enhance your overall health and well being through a wholesome diet, therapies listed above, daily movement, fresh air, sun shine, and peace of mind. Most of all, trust in your own body's innate power and ability to heal.

We have a healthy, hearty solution for a chemo patient's common problems
Chemo patients often face a number of common problems including low hematocrit scores (hemoglobin or blood iron), and the inability to ingest good protein because of pervasive mouth sores.

One woman I know of stated that during her chemo treatments all she could eat was applesauce. A cancer patient undergoing chemo needs far more nutritional support than just applesauce.

Making old fashioned beef stock from bones is a great way to get protein and iron into the chemo patient. You can read more about how Beef Stock is perfect for chemo patients in my article in Squidoo.com Healthy food for chemo patients.

For those undergoing chemo and readers of the Healthy food for chemo patients article, we continually offer a special on bone-in roasts and beef bones, our Squidoo Beef Broth Special . Click on the link to get going on your own beef broth.
